Constance Marie was born Constance Marie Lopez on September 9, 1965 in East Los Angeles, California, USA. She is an American actress, known professionally as Constance Marie. She is known for her role as Angie Lopez on George Lopez (2002–07) and her role as Marcela Quintanilla (mother of Selena) in the 1997 film Selena. She currently portrays Regina Vasquez on the ABC Family drama Switched at Birth playing the birth mother of one of the girls and legal mother of the other. At the age of 19, Marie appeared as a dancer in the musical Cosmopolis by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in Japan. When she returned to Los Angeles she was spotted in a club by a dance choreographer for David Bowie and she was hired for the Glass Spider Tour in 1987. Constance Marie‘s acting career also began when she was in her teens. She landed a spot in the movie Salsa. Other credits include Early Edition, Dirty Dancing, Selena, Spin City, The Underworld, and Ally McBeal. Constance Marie was chosen for the role of Angie Lopez on the TV comedy series George Lopez. Her mother named her Sigalit after the Hebrew word for “violet.” She attended Monmouth University and supported herself as a waitress at TGI Friday’s. Siggy earned a BA in Communications. What makes Siggy unique to the matchmaking game, is that she truly practices what she preaches; Siggy wrote her own fairytale as well. Siggy Flicker’s own love story is just as unique as her methods. Siggy met and married Mark Flicker, and after eight years of marriage and 2 children, Siggy and Mark chose to get divorced without acrimony and recriminations. It was the first “Divorce Done Right.” There were no lawyers, no bitter arguments and no traumatized children. Siggy managed to remain friends with her ex-husband and his family and when Siggy married again, to Michael Campanella, her ex-husband, Mark stood up as Michael’s best man.
