Nev Schulman was born Yaniv  Schulman on September 26th 1984 in in New York City, New York, USA. He is an American producer, actor, and photographer. He is best known for the 2010 documentary Catfish. At the age of 19, he and his older brother, actor/filmmaker Ariel Schulman, started a film/photography production company. In 2004, Nev Schulman started photographing dance as he became involved with the contemporary ballet community in New York City. He is a founding member of the Young Leadership Committee for the youth organization, Leave Out Violence. In 2010, Nev Schulman became the subject of the documentary Catfish, filmed by his brother Ariel Schulman and business partner Henry Joost, in which Nev Schulman met and fell in love with Megan, a girl he met online. The premise followed him on the journey of falling in love with a girl he meets on the internet, but later finds out that she may not be exactly who she claimed to be. In 2012, Nev Schulman became the host and executive producer of the follow up show Catfish: The TV Show for MTV, with his filmmaking partner Max Joseph, where he introduces people in real life who have developed relationships online but have not yet met. The show Catfish is aimed at exposing people who meet on social networking websites like Facebook and develop relationships who may not be who they claim to be. They show also aims at investigating these people and checking the legitimacy of the information they give to a person they have bonded with online.
